Terms and Conditions – Michael Rosen’s Book of Play Twitter Competition

The Michael Rosen’s Book of Play Twitter competition as detailed on our website  here. (“Competition”) is run by the Wellcome Trust ('Wellcome') a charity registered in England and Wales (no. 210183), whose registered office is at 215 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE, UK. (“We” “Us” and “Our”). “You” and “Your” shall mean you, the person entering the Competition.


  1. General
    1. If You enter the Competition You are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize detailed our website (the “Prize”) to anyone in breach of any of these Terms and Conditions.


  1. Eligibility
    1. The Competition is open to adults involved in teaching primary school science who are resident in the UK excluding:
      1. employees or contractors of Wellcome: or
      2. any person directly or indirectly involved in the running of the Competition, or their direct family members.
    2. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition. Only one entry will be accepted per person. In entering the competition, You confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the Prize. We may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the Competition.


  1. How to Enter
    1. To enter the Competition, You must enter via Twitter by tweeting about your class doing one or more of the three Michael Rosen activities on the Explorify website.
      1. For clarity, these are the three activities: 1 -, 2 -, or 3 -
      2. Use the hashtag #ExplorifyPlay, tagging @ExplorifySchool and posting the link to at least one of the activities that your class has done. You must also follow the Explorify Twitter account (@ExplorifySchool) so we can contact you if you win.
      3. You can enter as many times as you want to.
    2. All entries must be received by 4pm, Monday 25th November 2019. Any entries received after this will not be considered.
    3. We will not accept entries that are:

i) automatically generated by computer; or
ii) completed by third parties or in bulk.

    1. The competition entries will be judged by a panel of judges based on how each tweet demonstrates the excitement of learning science in primary school. The decision of the panel of judges (acting reasonably) is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.


  1. Winners
    1. The winners will be contacted directly via Twitter. It will not be possible to notify those entrants that do not win. The winner will be awarded the Prize.
    2. In order to claim the Prize you must [reply to the Direct message on Twitter within a week, at which point we will give you a winners code, and ask you to contact with your code and your school’s address, so that we can post your prize to you.
    3. We must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation, we will send the surname and county of prize winners and, if applicable copies of their winning entries, to anyone who emails within one month after the closing date of the competition.
    4. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact Us In such circumstances, We must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
    5. The winner accepts and agrees that:
      1. the Prize must be taken as stated, it is non-transferable, and cannot be deferred, exchanged or redeemed for its value
      2. no alternate to the Prize will be available.


  1. Rights and permissions
    1. If We are unable to contact any winner after making reasonable efforts to do so, or the Prize is unclaimed after one week of us notifying the winner, then the Prize will be deemed to have been forfeited, and We reserve the right to offer the Prize to another qualifying entrant.
    2. In the event that You are a winner, You accept and agree to the following in relation to the Competition:
      1. participate in any publicity planned by Us, if required; and
      2. We may announce that you are a Winner via Explorify and other Wellcome Trust twitter accounts, stating your Twitter name.


  1. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights

You agree that We may, but is not required to, make your entry available on our website.

 and any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the competition. You agree to grant Us a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the competition entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes


  1. Liability
    1. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which are beyond Our reasonable control and which prevents us from complying with these terms and conditions we will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation.
    2. We do no accept responsible for system errors or other issues that may result in disruption to, lost, delayed or not received entries, winner notifications or prizes.


  1. Personal Data

We will only process your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy. See also paragraph 4.3 and 5.2, with regard to the announcement of winners.


  1. General
    1. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter. Entries which do not comply with the terms of use of Twitter shall not be considered. For further information, see 
    2. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, We may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude You from participating in the Competition.
    3. We reserve the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
    4. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
