Make the most of the warm weather and follow our top 5 tips for taking your learning outside!

  1. Keep it simple – think about what you do inside that you can do outside. Reading a book outdoors is a perfect no-prep activity. Just a few of our favourites are Ada Twist, Scientist and Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty, How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers, and any of the books from the Little People, Big Dreams series!
  2. Messy lessons! Not able to have liquids exploding in the classroom? This is not the case outside!
  3. BIG lessons. Taking your lesson outside gives you height. Fire things in to the air! Check out our new Paper planes activity.
  4. Use play to promote teamwork and problem-solving. Children can complete one of our problem solver activities such as Move large stones or Build a bridge. Doing it outside helps the children put it into context!
  5. Get children to learn about nature and the environment by being in it! Get them to collect, observe, record things they find. See our new Living, moving and Making records odd one out activities.
